I got my start in photography as a kid while staying at my grandparents house at Wrightsville Beach, NC. They had received a free 35mm film camera with their Time Magazine subscription and gave it to me. It really was just a toy, but at that point I was hooked on taking photos!
Later as an exchange student in the Netherlands I would take thousands of photos documenting almost every inch of that beautiful country. And in college I picked up my first SLR film camera and spent many hours behind the lens and in the darkroom.
Even after getting into a career in Television, Radio and Digital Media and getting married and starting a family, I still enjoyed the few occasions I had to take pictures for company events and projects. Plus many large video projects kept me plugged in to telling stories with images.
Several years ago I decided to seriously pick up photography again as a creative outlet and quickly realized how much I missed it. And so that leads to formation of Jonathan Mauney Photography.
From family portraits to weddings to headshots to commercial projects, I'd love to talk to you about capturing your story.
